Our #DiscoveringDewponds team have been working with growing_hollingdean to create a small #gardenpond in the orchard of Hollingdean Park, as part of the #NeighbourhoodWildlifeCorridor network! Construction is now complete; once rain fills it, #wildlife can start moving in!

Both the naming and look of the Slow-worm may be confusing, for it’s neither a worm nor particularly slow. It’s not a snake either, although it can be mistaken for one, but is actually an elongated lizard without any legs. Have you spotted a Slow-worm this spring?

Basking on my allotment compost heap in today's warm sunshine: a beautiful common lizard! What I didn't realise until I looked at the photo - it only has three legs - look where its poor left front leg should be. Please garden carefully! Sussex Wildlife Trust 🦔 Sussex ARG

Normally, you can tell the difference between a newt and a lizard from the environment you find it in... so what is this common lizard doing in this pond vegetation?!🦎 Find out other ways to tell newts and lizards apart in our FAQs👉 arc-trust.org/lizards-faqs#d…

These might be just leaves, but can you see the folds? inside each of those are newt eggs! Female newts will lay their eggs on leaves and then carefully fold them over to protect their precious bundles. #amphibian #nature #wildlife #newt

This is the tenth year of our annual PondNet eDNA surveys for Great Crested Newt! The country’s largest single species survey using eDNA techniques sees us monitoring around 400 ponds. This helps to track population trends for this protected species. 👇 freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/news/englands-…
