Successful Day on the Hill with TNAAP advocating for kids in Tennessee! Had lots of meaningful conversations and even saw the Smart Heart Act (SB 2175), a lifesaving bill to increase AED access in schools, pass the Senate Health committee!

The rain didn’t slow us down for our 2024 Day on the Hill! We met with 20 lawmakers from across the state to show our support for legislation around vaccines, AED’s in youth athletics, and team-based care. #VoteKids

Important new work builds on previous scientific literature about the association of atrazine (a grass and weed killer used commonly in the US) to birth defects & other negative health effects.

Our study found that higher county-levels of atrazine use, the second-most used herbicide in the US, were associated with increased incidence of the birth defect gastroschisis. So grateful to have been a part of the team for this study and for the mentorship of Stephen Patrick, MD, MPH
