Remembering when we would visit the tanks before the exhibit was installed to see the deep sea creatures. It is an amazing achievement and I hope I can come back to visit it one day. Thanx for sharing it, friend.

The red paper lantern jelly was the most mesmerizing animal to me at Monterey Bay Aquarium & MBARI’ exhibit #IntoTheDeep. This hydrozoa crumples & expands its deep red mantle concertina-style to move through the deep. Floating in its own little world.

Dancing mauve stingers. Graceful little things but unlike most jellies, they have stingers from tentacle to bell. So give these ballerinas some space. View the dancers at Monterey Bay Aquarium & MBARI’ #IntoTheDeep exhibit.

Giant isopod, a relative of the woodlouse, normally found in the cold, depths of oceans, navigating in the pitch darkness as far as the bathyal zone at 2,140m deep (7,020 ft), where pressures are high and temperatures are low 🎥 from Emily A. Miller, PhD
