So the question now becomes... Who on Earth wants to replace someone who quit because their boss was trying to break international law? ft.com/content/6186bf…

Mike Galsworthy (@mikegalsworthy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

No, you didn’t. Brexit was officially ‘done’ months ago. You just voted to break international law. - and further, you did it for no reason that could not be fairly addressed by law-abiding routes, as your own colleague Geoffrey Cox QC, ex-AG, has highlighted.

I heard myself quietly, under my breath, saying 'My God' as I listened to this - it was involuntary. How this country has fallen. This is the Attorney General for England and Wales and head of my profession.

Absolutely true. There was no mention on the news yday of the AG’s statement in Parliament that she was proud of the UK breaking international law. Nor has this story been covered. In the US it would have been - it is a scandal. And barristers are keeping their heads down too.

This Special Adviser thing? Call me naive but I don't understand it. They seem to be individuals who leave college, go into PR/Guido or Conservative HQ, then become 'advisers' to Ministers (of what and why) before becomingMPs? Why is that a useful way to spend taxpayers' money?

+UPDATE+ Boris Johnson's "Japanese gamble" implodes. Earlier this year UK govt attempted a high-stakes gamble with UK car industry. Little remarked upon outside the industry at the time - it was an attempt to "do" Brexit & save the jobs of car workers. He just lost. A Thread

+UPDATE+ UK govt to “scale back” it’s plan for a ‘Moonshot’ solution to Coronavirus testing strategy after initial planning shows original concept “unrealistic”.

On Monday evening, Siobhan betrayed farmers and voted against amendments that would have enshrined our existing high food safety and animal welfare practices into British law.

I could be wrong but I suspect that this is the 1st time since Twitter invented that "New Brighton" has trended, not just in UK...but worldwide. For those that still don't know....a Liverpool area pub has changed its name

Quite an exclusive from ⁦Ed Conway⁩. The UK govt is paying management consultants around £7,000-a-day to work Test & Trace - equivalent to £1.5m on an annual basis. news.sky.com/story/coronavi…

Isambard Kingdom Brunel was the son of French refugee who became a citizen of at least 3 different countries. His mother was an English woman who went abroad to improve her language skills. Diversity literally made Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Nick🇬🇧🇪🇺 Exactly. Brunel was one of Britain’s greatest engineers (arguably the greatest) because he worked here, lived here and got his opportunities here - not because he was born here, or both his parents were born here. #DiversityIsambardKingdomBrunel

On Monday evening, Siobhan had the opportunity to protect British farmers and enshrine our high food safety and animal welfare practices into British law. Siobhan voted against the amendments, despite the National Farmers' Union campaigning for them.
