The latest edutwitter nonsense is that children being sat down (EYFS/Yr 1 - if you are doing continuous provision aside) is somehow bad. I think this platform just excelled itself in being utterly silly.

If one word Ofsted judgements are to be scrapped with immediate effect then I do hope we see inspections paused so everyone can get their head around what will be expected moving forwards. Interesting!

Looking at ECHP requirements for children…. so many prefer / need calm quiet (ideally silent) classrooms with clear routines. Yet this is rebuffed by some as being controlling…

Yep. When you dismiss/malign very tightly controlled classrooms (*definitely* silent when they're working independently) it results in SEND kids, autistic kids and kids with ECHPs suffering. It might make you feel better, but the most vulnerable kids don't need a Miss Honey

Like it or not exam results matter. Supporting pupils to achieve positive outcomes arms them with greater life opportunities.

As more data comes out about suspension/exclusion today I hope the debates focus on/remember the silent majority, i.e. those kids who have their education disrupted/ruined and there's a focus on teacher wellbeing, where teachers suffer intolerable abuse...
