We had like 100 years of this tradition where the MLB season would open with one singular home day game for the Reds, the game’s oldest team, followed by a ceremonious opening day. Now it’s like “Netflix and Jelly Roll present the Yankees showcase, featuring a confusing hand.”

A little scared of how many cranky old man opinions I’m developing here. In my day we could walk to school in the snow uphill both ways and watch the Reds in the middle of the afternoon on normal TV with a legible scorebug for Opening Day

One of my favorite Opening Day memories. 2005. Adam Dunn with two homers, including the game-tying blast with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Archdeacon: As March Madness plays on, Jim Jabir embraces life’s final chapter with grace. ... The former Dayton women's basketball coach has terminal pancreatic cancer and is in hospice care at his home. daytondailynews.com/sports/archdea…

There was a time at UD when it had coaches (Rick Chamberlin, Mike Tucker, Kelly Sheffield, Jabir, even BG) that realized “Community” was bigger than their teams and were happy to be in an environment where they could interact with and even teach college kids

“Malachi Smith ran off the bench. That should be a technical” … well, technically speaking, Malachi Smith was in the game at that moment

Obi Toppin is a still a little hesitant when leaping off his right foot because he keeps expecting it to hurt, but it hasn't. He's playing better when he's not thinking about it and in limited minutes his numbers have been excellent: indystar.com/story/sports/n…

I was on the phone with a GM less than an hour ago running through top 10 scenarios. The way we had it going, we both said, “the bengals are screwed.” Well, not anymore. This trade makes a ton of sense for them.

I disagree - IF - and it's a significant if - he's healthy from that elbow injury. He's still only 28. At his peak, he's been 1 of 1 as a nose tackle. Even on a bigger money deal there is nowhere Cincinnati could have gone at 10 that would make more impact.

Amused at the idea that we can shit on this draft for six months as being weak at the top, then shit on the Bengals for spending pick 10 on the best nose tackle in football. It can’t be both, right? The year in question matters when you’re pricing things.

Basically getting Dexter Lawrence for like $70M over three years. That’s an absurd bargain and the folks that said they “overpaid” are wrong (again).
