1/ Today all charges against Anab Mohamud were dropped. Now that they are no longer in the courts, I want to lay out some facts. The reports on Anab are the result of racial profiling by police and media.

3/ To be clear - Anab was raped. She called the police for help and she was charged for the things she did in her defence. She was violently attacked, and hospitalised. She called the authorities, and again, she was charged.

4/ For almost two years, misleading reporting allowed these spurious charges to be played out in the public arena. For fear of jeopardising her case, Anab could not set the record straight.

7/ I hope that the public can find ways now to support Anab – a public housing resident, a woman of colour, a refugee, a single mother, who against odds found herself in public office - to recover from these sustained attacks.
