After a late start to nesting this year, the colony has made up a lot of ground in recent weeks. Many 2nd broods hatching presently. These chicks are one day old.

"Pine martens, dragonflies … this scarred peat bog is healing" The fantastic comeback nature is making at Abbeyleix Bog is yet another example showing that rewilding WORKS. It's just a question of giving nature space (and time). Let's do this. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

To attract Goldfinches to your garden you don't need to buy ££ nyjer seed that's intensively farmed and shipped from India, using up scarce land/resources. You can grow beautiful foodplants like chicory, lavender, teasel, aster, nyjer(!) and leave dandelions in the lawn.

As part of a two-year project, 137 water voles have been reintroduced to Crane Park! While they adjust to their new home we're asking that residents and their dogs to please keep away from the river's soft banks and surrounding areas. Learn more ⬇️ orlo.uk/UIUKt

"If you do the math, the cost of polluting is basically 1p in every £. For every 99p you can hand out to shareholders, you've got to cough up 1p to cover the cost of your fines. Now that is not a deterrent." charles watson not mincing his words on Good Morning Britain. 👏👊#Ofwat #SewageScandal

Whilst its good Ofwat are finally doing their job as regulator, these fines are still less than profits to be made from breaking the law. The fines also go to the Treasury, when they need to go towards the restoration of rivers & seas damaged by sewage theguardian.com/business/artic…

What's happening here? We are watching Ofwat being manipulated and blackmailed by Thames Water 💧 and losing spectacularly on our behalf. Big bonuses being paid to TW bosses if they pull this scam off. Clive Lewis MP Steve Reed MP

English water privatisation has failed, and fines don't work. To them, fines are the cost of doing business. The government *must* stand up for the public and the environment by reviewing the water industry so that it works for people, not profit. weownit.org.uk/blog/our-open-…

Please read this . . . Defra UK tell Natural England to ignore the science and kill wildlife to keep National Farmers' Union happy . . . that’s where we are at after 230K badgers have been inhumanely killed at taxpayers expense . It’s time to end the cull . Wild Justice Badger Trust

We have been campaigning for 5 years now to get our river cleaned up. #Ilkley is outraged and yet again we have children in leeds hospital A&E ill from swimming in sewage pollution where there are no warning signs. And our MP Robbie Moore MP does this unearthed.greenpeace.org/2024/08/07/def…

Thames Water is cleverly using its imploding finances and debt mountain to frighten the Chancellor to give it the best deal. If we have to bail this deliberately collapsed business out, we should end up owning the company, not being owned by it. Rachel Reeves Steve Reed MP

Nail on head Charles. Well said sir. 👏👏👏 Aș a reminder, and according to the chair of the Environment Agency, 40% of all river pollution is actually caused by farming. 36% the water industry.

We'll be there on Sat 26th October. Our story is like too many #chalkstreams and rivers; 2600 hours of sewage discharged into the #RiverVer this year and inadequate measures for preventing a dry river in drought years.
