saying “certain professions naturally have gender imbalances” about stand-up comedy is insane. and why do you think there’s a gender imbalance? because many comedy clubs are male-dominant and are misogynistic just like this statement. the comedy industry simply has to do better

As a trans guy comedian this situation is even crazier for me. I’ll get booked as the ‘one woman’ and then have to disappoint them or I’ll get booked to an all man line up an be paraded as accidental diversity. And had an agent go ‘we already have a trans woman so we’re good.’
