Thank you to York Regional Police for making a quick arrest in yesterday's Woodbridge shooting. Gun crime is an abomination and I'm fed up with criminals who have no regard for human life. Please see my statement.

The recent acts of unacceptable vandalism targeting the Jewish community in Vaughan, Markham and Toronto need to be denounced in the strongest possible terms. Please see my statement below

For too many months, anti-semitism has been running rampant and too little has been done to combat it. This must stop and all leaders have a responsibility to step-up. I have contacted York Regional Police to ensure that everything is being done to keep our Jewish residents safe in Vaughan.

These incidents are of great concern to me and to our residents. I want to thank York Regional Police for doing everything possible to keep our community safe. As Mayor, I will continue to push hard for more dollars to be directed to all community safety initiatives, as I've done in past years.

As we prepare the York Region budget this fall, it is crucial that Chief Jim MacSween and York Regional Police have more resources to keep our community safe.
