While the world burns, US Congress is focused on 'Liberty in Laundry' and 'Stopping Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards'

It means one thing: Europeans need produce the necessary air defense, artillery shells, tanks, and IFVs for Ukraine and the rest of Europe ourselves.

Roy Grinwis Toch altijd weer bijzonder om te zien hoe hardnekkig sommige historische zaken als de “Durand Line” blijven spelen, zie Stephan Jensen’ draad 👇

Prime Minister Kishida is completely right.
But, as Afghanistan already experienced, we may find that America doesn't listen - or is no longer capable of listening.
The rest of the free world needs to be ready and resilient enough to withstand the consequences of that happens.

Afghan soldiers fought bravely. They were undermined by American politicians like Zalmay Khalilzad and the US State Department that tied their hands behind their backs. The lie they ran away was misinformation

Exactly right. And we need to stop this cowardly and idiotic nonsense right now before it allows our enemies to destroy us.

Exactly. And the the main reason it might happen is that our enemies realise we're not prepared for it - which makes war an attractive proposition for revisionist authoritarians. A war not of our choice, one might add.
Si vis pacem para bellum.

Retired after 20 years, with 4 1/2 years in Iraq & Afg.

The best thing I did in my career was helping evacuate our Afghan allies.

And serving alongside thousands of others who have spent the last 2 1/2 years upholding the promise.

We. Don’t. Leave. People. Behind.

The solution, or at least the necessary first step, to make America 'capable of listening' is cure the degenerative Iraq Syndrome at the premise level of our politics and policy and revive the resolute principled US leadership that crystallized in Iraq.

Western pacifists are like people who eat meat every day but think animal husbandry is immoral.
If you live in a free country it's because someone has been willing to protect it by force of arms rather than give in to totalitarianism and dictatorship.

The 🇺🇸United States' decades of deep and loyal support for 🇵🇰 Pakistan while Pakistan kept funding, arming, training, and hiding America's enemies and engineering the Taliban's comeback in 🇦🇫Afghanistan must be one of the great unsolved mysteries of our time.
The mind boggles.

🇦🇫THREAD:
The poisonous border between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been at the heart of the violence and conflict over the last 45 years, and before.
I'd go as far as to argue that without the 'Durand Line', there would not have been a war in Afghanistan at all.
