Thrilled that MERMAID was chosen as a winner of the AWS Nonprofits IMAGINE Grant. With less than 15% of the world’s coral reefs monitored, it’s time to close the data gap with responsible AI and machine learning, says WCS’s Dr Emily Darling. bit.ly/4in4ehq

WCS has worked with and supported Indigenous Peoples and the government for 25 years in Madidi National Park in Bolivia. There are now 7X as many jaguars there as when we began. ❤️ This year-end, help us return them to much of their former range. bit.ly/4fG4Dt5

With just six years left to meet our #30x30 goal, we need to ramp up ocean protection – and fast. I was glad to contribute the first post for The Ocean Agenda, a new blog from Together for the Ocean, on 6 actions countries must take to achieve 30x30. bit.ly/40ZQK4B

Our WCS-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) acoustic monitoring buoys picked up North Atlantic right whales in NY Bight yesterday. This triggers slow zones, crucial to protect the whales. bit.ly/4aQNo7v Last week in this area, NOAAFish_NEFSC saw a mother (Accordion, #4150) with her first calf.

For 10 years, @WCSOcean Giants has studied whales in the NY Bight. Our team gathers data that is used to better protect these animals. These shots are from a recent ‘close approach’ by a curious humpback that circled & remained close to the boat for some time. #WorldWhaleDay

This week, at #OurOcean in Busan, South Korea, WCS’s Stacy Jupiter reported on our success supporting countries in meeting their #SDG14 target for ocean protection. Includes the MPA Fund, a joint six-year effort with Waitt Foundation and Blue Moon Fund, which exceeded its $15M goal.
