Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on relationships, routines, & expectations, you rarely have to defer back to rules.

Begin the year focused on building those relationships and establishing respect both ways. Students work harder for teachers they respect and know cares about them. Adults do too.

Students and schools don’t need a perfect teacher because a perfect teacher doesn’t exist. They need a teacher that’s going to do their best to get students to enjoy coming to school. A teacher who will get their students to enjoy learning.
