If you're a Maryland fan (and I have been for over 50 years), tonight was just second verse, same as the first. We invent new ways to lose. Tonight was new, to be sure, but not unexpected.

Big thanks to Juanita Tolliver for sharing her insights at Morgan State about her terrific new book, "A More Perfect Party," a recounting of the 1972 fundraiser for the presidential fundraiser for Shirley Chisholm held at the home of Diahann Carroll.

I know the feeling. I covered a triple overtime Maryland-Virginia triple overtime ACC tournament final. By the time it ended, I was scrambling on deadline. Yeoman's work, my man. Keep it up!

Here's two questions Maryland Women’s Basketball fans: Should Angel Reese attend her brother's Senior Day ceremony tomorrow in College Park? What kind of reaction will she get if she does?

I'm stunned that Maryland Women’s Basketball got a top 16 seed and will be hosting NCAA first and second round games. Maryland got blasted in the Big Ten tournament and appeared to have little chance to host. Go figure.

Seems obvious, but South Carolina has to stay within reach of Connecticut to make the fourth quarter relevant. The Huskies historically put games away early. It would be interesting to see how they react to pressure if the Gamecocks can keep it close or have a second half lead.

South Carolina has to shave the deficit at least in half by the end of the third or it's a wrap. They have to make Connecticut feel the pressure.

I've known Dawn Staley since she was a freshman at Virginia. She has always exuded class and grace and this moment is no exception. To shout out the local media after today's thumping is first class all the way. But that's who Dawn Staley is.

I cannot believe that Shyanne Sellers slipped through the first round. The only explanation I can give is there must be some ongoing questions about her knee and availability for this season. She's a stat sheet filler and tremendous defender. I don't get it.

Coming May 29, look for my new podcast, One Thing And Another, as I chat with folks about their lives and careers in one segment and about some underexplored part of their lives in another.

If this doesn't get Ernie Johnson the 2026 Sports Emmy for Best Studio Host, then I don't know what will. And, Adam Silver, what in the holy hell are you thinking not keeping some of the NBA contract on TNT?

Two things to remember heading into the NBA Finals: (1.) For those bemoaning that the series is taking place in small markets, the NBA allowed the Sonics to leave Seattle (the #13 market) for Oklahoma City (the #47 market). (2). Thunder owner Clay Bennett is a rotten human.

After what he did to Seattle basketball fans -- with the permission of David Stern -- I have no interest in watching Thunder owner Clay Bennett accept a championship trophy. Letting the Sonics leave was the worst stain on Stern's otherwise brilliant time as commissioner.

It's been a long time since I've seen a play as unselfish as Kyle Van Noy's in handing off his interception to Alohi Gilman.
