State prison offender Robert Goulding has died. Goulding, age 67, passed away July 24 at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield. Goulding was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder from Pennington County.

State prison offender Bobby Vanbiber has died. Vanbiber, age 66, passed away Sept. 9 at the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls. At the time of his death, Vanbiber was serving a 50-year sentence for first-degree rape from Grant County.

Juvenile division staff volunteered at Pierre Area Referral Services, a local food bank, as part of their annual in-service training. Juvenile division staff packed over 300 bags for the snack pack program, which serves schools in Pierre and Fort Pierre.

State Penitentiary and James Annex are on lockdown status; offender phone service will be managed during lockdown. Only specially arranged visits and attorney visits will be available. Doc.sd.gov

A check for $2,900 was presented by Mike Durfee State Prison Cultural Activities Director Brian Foley to the River City Domestic Violence Center in Yankton on September 13. MDSP offenders raised the $ from food orders from an outside vendor with part of the $ donated to charity
