In today's Arab League emergency meeting, I highlighted the dangerous plan by Ethiopia to control the entrances to the Red Sea, threatening global trade and navigation. We urged Arab countries to unite and stand with Somalia in confronting this aggressive plan. Solidarity is key.

This evening,I signed the law nullifying the illegal MoU between the Gov’t of Ethiopia & Somaliland. With the support of our lawmakers & our people, this law is an illustration of our commitment to safeguard our unity, sovereignty & territorial integrity as per international law.

The Federal Government of #Somalia strongly opposes the recent statement from the Executive Secretary of #IGAD , deeming it biased towards the #Ethiopian Government. We call on the Executive Secretary to immediately apologize, withdraw the statement and take appropriate action.

The FGS unequivocally rejects #Ethiopia 's unauthorized MOU with #Somaliland (the northern regions of Somalia)on Jan 1 in #AddisAbaba .As per to our constitution & international laws, Somaliland is an integral part of #Somalia .Upholding peace & stability in the region is paramount.

As a Government, we have condemned and rejected the illegal infringement of Ethiopia into our national sovereignty and territorial integrity yesterday. Not an inch of Somalia can or will be signed away by anybody. Somalia belongs to the Somali people. This is final.
