A word about rescue accounts & what to watch for. I know there are individuals, mostly in foreign countries, doing good work for animals, but it seems for every one who's legit, there are 4 or 5 scams. Here are some things to keep in mind before you donate: 1/

Most legit rescues will have SOME way to verify them on their profile - a link to a website or a FB page where you might find their physical address or other contact info. If there are no links you can google the rescue to see if verification exists. 2/

Saying there's x amount of $ needed for a particular emergency is a typical scam technique & one rarely used by legit rescues. Always by wary of PayPal accounts to individuals & not to the rescue (but there are exceptions if you can verify them in other ways). 3/

A string of lists in replies that includes just about anybody who's ever advocated for animals is usually a scam technique. Real rescues know this and therefore would avoid doing it. 5/

It's sad that we need to be wary of scams & the legitimate animal advocates suffer bc of their existence. Bottom line - never donate more than 5 or 10 $ to anyone you are not sure of, and always ask an advocate you trust if you have any questions. 6/x
