When The Labour Party appoint a new Libraries Minister I’ll do again what I’ve been doing for the last 14yrs, I’ll ask for a meeting then offer to work with them to adopt a national policy supporting Public Libraries & Library Workers. I’ll never give up. ✊️ #libraries

Libraries Change Lives parliamentary reception with CILIP and others. Great to see so much support in the room and we'll keep pushing for longer-term financial support for a sector that is key to the future of our communities, society and the economy.

Support your sector with the CILIP Connect Toolkit. The toolkit enables members to contact local and national government officials with help on letter writing, timing and arranging meetings to raise the profile of libraries in times of cutbacks. cilip.org.uk/page/CILIP-con…

To do this with no public consultation is wrong. The Council has a legal duty to provide libraries that meet local needs and such significant changes to provision will damage the communities who rely on them, and they should have been engaged with.
