Here is the same photo with the moon for scale. Angular scale, not actual scale. Ie, this is how big these things would appear in the sky if they were bright enough to be visible like this This is why I didn't need a telescope to get this shot Cameras reveal a hidden universe

Yesterday at our monthly astronomy meeting in our pizzeria, I met Gerd and told him that I had announced his website on X. He was really delighted and, yes, he had noticed the massive increase in visitor numbers to his site and was very pleased. He thanks you for your great

Commonly known as the Pacman nebula due its resemblance to the video game character, this is NGC 281, an emission nebula in Cassiopeia, at around 9000 light years distance Taken through my small scope during August. 15 hours total exposure, processed in the SHO Hubble palette

OK. V2.0 is running on my staging server! Woohoo! The deployment process is still a little flakey and isn’t passing all tests first time but today I managed to use the site a such that I could record a video of what’s new! #AstroMethods

May be it is decreasing a bit its luminosity because it’s increasing its distance to the sun but it’s approaching our planet. We must wait for more accurate predictions.

IC 4725 (M25) is a large, beautiful, open cluster located about 2,000 light years distant in Sagittarius. Discovered in 1745 by Philippe Loys de Cheseaux, the cluster is slightly obscured, yet bright enough to view unaided under clear conditions. 📷 Go! Astronomy #IC4725 #M25
