This yacht is berthed at Aberdeen Harbour just now, outside the office. Apparantly it belongs to Jim Radcliffe (Ineos & Man Utd). Bet it’s no use at Cara Phiobair or Cara Mhor!!

First day back in the office in Aberdeen today after a fine week off at home. This ‘lovely’ note was left for me in my keyboard. It’s good to see I command respect!!!

We do well for beaches in Ness. However, today’s trip to Bosta in Bernera was my first time in roughly 35 years. I’d forgotten just what a gem it is! A frequent destination for Sunday school trips in 80’s & 90’s!!

Decades of oil & gas mismanagement by Westminster coming to end as the golden goose starts an even steeper decline. And at the end of it all we are nationally skint. Meanwhile, over in Norway, an affordable energy transition is already years ahead. Sad state of affairs, for us.

BP Magnus. I remember my father taking us to Nairn to watch it being towed out of the Cromarty Firth. I was only 6 and it blew my wee mind. Astonishing industrial heritage. I’m heading out to Ninian Central next week for an overnight visit. Another example of that heritage.

I saw this hanging in my parents house. It was a collaboration between Acair Books - Gaelic and English books and Comhairle nan Eilean in 1991 but the look of it. You have to zoom in to read it but it’s very interesting. Some words I’ve not heard in years

One of the most thought provoking and worrying articles I’ve read on energy, well described as the three acts; 1) coal 2) oil & gas 3) renewable. Whilst the outcome of Scotwind at 27GW will be amazing, the process of getting there is likely to leave us economically worse off

I got home to Ness yesterday from the week in Côte D’Ivoire. Came back to Aberdeen this evening via Glasgow. Just arrived at the flat in time to see CDI win the AFCON - they seem to get on extremely well when I miss the games!!!

Attempted to get to the CDi v Congo semi tonight in Abidjan. Stadium is 30km away, took us 5.5hrs to get there, in time for FT! Some amazing scenes from some very happy Ivorians celebrating on the steets…….so glad they won as I’d hate to have seen this crowd if they lost!!
