Brexit appears to have finally broken the Daily Mail. They've published an honest headline about the subject for once.

Have they tried switching the newspaper off and on again?

This is a very foolish point of view indeed. The thing you 'put in its place' is asylum processing, a pint Labour has repeatedly made. I would expect this nonsense to be stamped on pretty sickly by Labour. People would be rightly aghast if it isn't.

So this shambles of a govt are charging for Brexit checks but are waving freight through to keep freight moving.

All they had to do was dynamically align to EU standards, but instead decided to ensure thousands of businesses go bust and more people to fall into destitution.

And โ€ฆ the economic damage is not the worst part of Brexit. Speak to anyone involved in the diplomatic world and they will tell you that British influence is severely diminished. And that is a very bad thing indeed in an increasingly unstable world. How anyone in government with

EU Member States and the Commission are hoping that a Labour government will understand the EU better than has been the case for the last 8 years. Likely.

But will it be sufficient?

Call me cynical but of course they did...they'll be gone by then and won't have to implement it!

That's another group of people that will never forgive the Tories. 14 years to sort this and now in effect they duck it again

Lord David Frost โ€œnegotiatedโ€ the most disadvantageous trade deal in our history. Now, tilting at windmills of his own imagination, he wants to double down on the philosophy and policies that have self-evidently failed us. He is, literally, preposterous. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/โ€ฆ

There seems to be no sleight-of-hand the govt won't employ to claim the Rwanda policy as a success, but I suspect that those disposed to support it are as sceptical about the claims as those disposed to oppose it are disgusted by them.

While the West decided to argue among itself about whether it might continue to support Ukraine, Russia advanced. Not just there but also in Georgia.

Liberal Democrats The Green Party members in Greater London please lend your votes to the Mayor of London to ensure that Susan Hall is roundly defeated in the mayoral election. She should not be allowed anywhere near public office.

If youโ€™re getting your news about Scotland from print or social media, five things worth knowing:

1) Some Scots are committed to independence

2) Some are committed to the Union

3) Some are unsure.

4) They donโ€™t all hate each other.

5) Some even quite like each other.

That time in June 2016 when James O'Brien took apart Jacob Rees-Mogg's claim of the UK being dragged into an EU army

Brexit kills UK farming, but also perversely makes it more difficult & costly to import from the EU, across now universal *UK* regulatory & customs borders (highest of trading barriers) against the whole world.

The Labour Party would be very foolish to pledge to keep the Rwanda scheme in place when they get into government. Very foolish. I hope any rumours around this turn out to be untrue or misconstrued.

Is there anything more cynical than the Evening Standard, pretending to be vaguely progressive every day, to not piss off its readership, but always SOMEHOW arriving at the position of endorsing the Tory candidate every 4 years - even a dangerous and racist climate-change-denier?

A Labour landslide could make this the most disproportionate election since universal suffrage โ€“ A two-thirds majority for Labour on the back of a vote share barely above 40% exposes the distorting nature of FPTP more than any election in living memory. theconversation.com/a-labour-landsโ€ฆ
