This is a very foolish point of view indeed. The thing you 'put in its place' is asylum processing, a pint Labour has repeatedly made. I would expect this nonsense to be stamped on pretty sickly by Labour. People would be rightly aghast if it isn't.

So this shambles of a govt are charging for Brexit checks but are waving freight through to keep freight moving.

All they had to do was dynamically align to EU standards, but instead decided to ensure thousands of businesses go bust and more people to fall into destitution.
