Keith will always hold a special place in my heart.

Every group member brings with them unique skills and talents and I have fond memories of (nearly) every one.

Keith’s death was a family, personal, and scientific tragedy.

The world is less good with him gone.

With great sadness, we mourn the death of Professor Dieter Hoppe, who passed away on March 20th, 2024. He will remain in our memories as our scientific ancestor and a giant of Organic Chemistry.

Two simple reagents, HCHO and hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP), unleash new chemical magic! HCHO effectively “sucks” the alpha C-H bond from common alkyl amines in HFIP solvent, enabling hydride liberation without metals or light. It works for complex systems, too.
