Australia needs to seriously stop it with the insane overreacting to anything firearms: We're a country of 27 million people, a mere 18 million over the age of 18, and yet have 1 million firearm owners... so 1 in 18 adults, yet essentially no gun crime. There's no need to panic!

We are incredibly disappointed in this biased story from ABC News about gel blasters (we deliberately aren't linking to it to reduce the traffic the story gets), to the point where we have lodged a formal complaint over it. If you would like to do the same (politely), the ABC

Hey look, it's what happens whenever we try and present evidence that responsible firearms users are not a public safety issue, and also we should be allowed pump-action shotguns and self-loading .22LR rifles for hunting and target shooting!

Our South Australian president Peter Heggie has been involved in some very productive discussions with the South Australian Police Firearms Registry as we work with them to resolve the current firearms licence and permit backlog. You may have seen recent media stories

An excellent video here from Western Australia journalist Ben Harvey skewering the state's gun laws - and calling out the same thing we've been saying for ages now: Doctors *are* the arbiters of who gets a gun licence now, because no-one in WAPOL is going to issue a gun licence

So apparently Victoria doesn't have any laws about carrying weapons in public or getting into armed brawls in shopping centres, so that's why they've had to use special Government powers to immediately ban *checks notes* a gardening and camping tool. theguardian.com/australia-news…

Shooters Union Aus Just about anything is a weapon if used inappropriately 🤷‍♂️ Admitting they have an underlying people problem without a solution is what they're avoiding.

The successful WA Parliamentary Motion to review the state’s Firearms Act and Regulations (introduced by Shadow Attorney-General Hon Nick Goiran MLC ) is a welcome positive step for shooters in the West, even if it’s not the “magic bullet” many are hoping for. Under the Motion –

We've been trying to find out for ages exactly how many staff in Queensland Weapons Licensing are allocated to various tasks - and thanks to Shane Knuth MP and our friends at Katter's Aus Party, we now have an answer via this Question on Notice.

Enormous news out of the NT this morning: The Territory will effectively legalise OC Spray (pepper spray) from September 1st. We wholeheartedly support this initiative, and would like to see it being rolled out across Australia. Get onto your local MP and tell them you want OC

The absolute madness continues from Queensland Police Weapons Licensing Group, with one of our members - applying for a lever-action .44 Magnum rifle for lever-action shooting match competitions - being asked to *provide a copy of the match rules*. This is just farcical - people
