I was very pleased to have the opportunity to address the Family Justice Council this morning on the barriers to participation in family proceedings faced by mothers in prison. A very positive meeting & a precursor to publishing my end of project report in about 6 weeks’ time.

The cows and calves are back in the fields after a long (wet) winter. We all enjoyed tonight’s sunset views.

Working on my data on imprisoned women's access to family courts.
Imprisoned mothers are (literally & metaphorically) in a room with a door, but the door handle is on the outside. Accessing legal advice gives them a doorstopper so that the door can't be shut tight #justice

What could universities do about the fact so many academics self fund (with time & £) so much research?
