BA: It's important for those who made sacrifices to know that they are appreciated, that their time & efforts are worth it. But it's also important for ourselves to have that feeling of gratitude rather than of entitlement, to think & feel & act outside of ourselves.

Without the selfless sacrifices of others, we would not have the freedoms that we do today. When we cease to appreciate those sacrifices, we move closer to potentially losing those precious freedoms.
