Lake Kinneret is a monomictic lake, meaning that the top and bottom layers mix once a year. Today, we had our annual celebration of the turnover by swimming in the lake (16 degrees Celsius) and having a big potluck.

How the changing lake levels of the #Kinneret affect the salinity of the aquifer? Dr Shaked Stein and Dr Yaron Be'eri-Shlevin from the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory (KLL) at IOLR חקר ימים ואגמים לישראל (חיא"ל) have embarked on a new research project to find out!

Today, I went with the #IOLR_Israel team from the #Kinneret Limnological Laboratory to help the farmers in Northern Israel harvest avocados, as their Thai workers flew home due to the war in Israel. It is great to be outside and help the local farmers.

These days, we are conducting a survey around Lake #Kinneret to check the groundwater salinity next to the shore using a shovel and an EC meter. Today, we conducted an #ERT survey to get a 2D picture of the resistivity on the Lake shores to compliment our data. #IOLR_Israel

Just finished a 4 day cruise on #Lake_Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) towing an #ERT system that deciphered the electrical resistivity; hence, the water salinity below the lake bed. Super exciting being on the boat and watching live as the salinity is changing throughout the cruise.
