Because of the new Court Street bike lane in Brooklyn, I rode a bike on NYC streets for the 1st time in 25+ years. 😃 Court Street bike lane => I can ride to my place in a protected lane, where previously the street was a dangerous mess*. 😃 Vids and 🧵

Good review of the new game Subway Builder. Warning: The game is not based on real US construction costs, because, in the designer's words, "it would have made the game unplayable." fastcompany.com/91421609/this-…

Proud to be part of a large and growing coalition to take the common-sense step to phase out the heaviest and fastest “e-bikes” on the streets. Our sidewalks and bike lanes should be safe for everyone, and 20mph is plenty for anything on the streets of NYC.

This a huge misread of the greatest issue of our time. The affordability crisis doesn’t just affect “poor” New Yorkers. Even people making $100k are struggling to afford rent and raise kids, yet alone save. You should not need to make $150k to be comfortable in NYC.

The problem with a "normal wide city street" is the fast moving 2+ ton vehicles that could kill you with a tap. That's why cyclists love protected lanes. 😉

Conversely, if your city is not affordable, it is not well planned. Well planned cities should have enough housing and transportation for their populations to live affordably. Housing shortages and expensive transportation are *city planning* issues.

"All the news fit to print." Elites in media and politics continue to completely misunderstand the urgency and seriousness of the moment we're in. NYC has serious housing/transportation needs.

A great touch. The subways are essentially a public space, and it's always best practice to see public spaces acknowledge seasonality and the holiday schedule.
