TV ratings for college football were through the roof this season, very high numbers for men's hoops and especially the NCAA tourney, most watched women's final ever. Besides that no one cares.

There has never been a time in the history of college sports where the smaller/midmajor schools have been on an equal footing with the high majors/P5 schools. Not one single solitary second. Bemoan it all you like, but stop attributing the gap to the portal.

I'm old enough to remember when the NCAA argued in court that fans would stop watching the games if they knew players were making money. Didn't turn out so well.

all due respect I don't see fans going anywhere. Attendance, engagement, TV ratings, rights fees, all healthy across the board. Could it possibly be they're just venting on message boards?

Three of Indiana State's top four scorers last season were transfers. Did you feel terrible about poaching those poor schools?

Last year no 1 or 2 seeds reached the elite eight for the first time ever. And lots of turnover at the top of the polls. By every measure college hoops is extremely healthy as a business. Change is uncomfortable and the chaos sucks but the game is healthy.

I understand fans’ frustration and appreciate their passion. But saying “we lost” a player implies that you owned him. You didn’t. He chose to play for your school and now he is choosing to play elsewhere. That’s how it should work.

You just have missed all those stories about how the portal is causing unprecedented parity in college hoops. Both can’t be true.
