When we are dealing with a dysregulated pupil, we can regulate them by the tone of our voice, how we listen to them, and our non-verbal signals, and they will be able to reflect our calm.
This is called co-regulation. When one nervous system supports and eases another. π§ π±
Consequences are different from punishments. If there are no boundaries, if there are no consequences, you're not doing trauma-informed or relationally-informed practice well. Natural consequences don't have to shame pupils.
Abusive behaviour causes mental and physical harm to our staff, leading to time off work and less time with patients. Please be considerate to our staff.
