Ross North Scott Press Pretty strange watching from the sidelines for the first time in nearly 40 years, but Ross had a great first week. The Lancers are in good hands with this young man. Welcome him warmly. Hopefully he'll let me off the bench now and then.😀

So glad that Beth has been on this journey with me, and blown away by her words. Couldn't have had a more supportive wife over the past 39+ years. Certainly counting my blessings as I ease into retirement.

The long good-bye is finally almost over. Wrote farewell column in last week's paper. If you're free on Sunday, I'd love to see you.

North Scott pulls off the upset of No. 1 North Polk. Ross should have fun writing this one up. I'm more than a little envious.

For the first time in 40 years I won't be on the sidelines at Lancer Stadium tonight. I can still smell the grass and hear the roar. So many fond memories. Best of luck to Coach Tippet and his Lancers tonight. Maybe NateNoel will let me sneak in one of these nights. Go Lancers.

Looking forward to Ross 's coverage of North Scott's run at state volleyball, but I gotta tell you, I had a hard time sleeping last night because I kept thinking of all the story lines I'd want to write about. Just a bit jealous. Let's get that state title.

I've reported on every single North Scott team state championship in school history. Strange to sit this one out. Have fun with this @rossshinberg. These are special times. It's great to be Lancer.

Tuesday is Election Day. Please exercise your right to vote. I'm running for a seat on the Eldridge City Council. If you live in town, I'd appreciate your vote.

North Scott truly lost a legend today with the passing of Randy (R.D) Denner. Former coach, teacher and Hall of Fame, RD was the longtime "Voice of the Lancers," and the originator of the L-A-N-C-E-R cheer. A true Lancer, through and through. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations to North Scott's 2024 Athletic Hall of Famers - Frank Wood, Shari Huber, Greg Green and Shawn Gerard. It was a privilege to emcee your inductions. As always, thanks for the memories.
