Bangla Spring: Nearly 1,000 comrades murdered, yet Bangladeshi youth rise again, defy the terrors of dictator #SheikhHasina and are making a history! These powerful videos bring tears to my eyes. I wish I were there in person to witness it! #Bangladesh #Democracy

Wild rumors are swirling about Sheikh Hasina's future as the army chief is poised to address the nation in half an hour. Local TV station reports the army talks with major political parties are underway. Hasina may have budged finally.

Multiple official sources tell me that Sheikh Hasina has resigned as the Bangladesh premier after 15 years of uninterrupted rule.

This is where Sheikh Hasina — Bangladesh’s erstwhile prime minister whose accumulation of domestic power had no parallel in South Asia’s history — used to work.

.Financial Times on the power vacuum in Dhaka: "#Bangladesh can ill-afford a period of drift, not least as it faces a growing crisis of unemployment... As has been seen in recent years from Romania to Iraq, the aftermath of autocracy is fraught with peril." ft.com/content/529af3… via @ft

Fall of Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh shows people power can still sometimes sweep away an unpopular autocrat. Belarus and Iran suggested that maybe online monitoring and willingness to kill demonstrators had tipped balance towards autocracy. Army loyalty seems to be key variable.

Bangladeshis are celebrating the end of an autocrat’s reign. Now the caretaker leader, Muhammad Yunus, needs to try to rebuild democracy. Bangladesh matters; it must not be allowed to fail econ.st/4cyvrdf

Susannah Savage Great article on green ammonia! It's worth mentioning that scaling costs and learning curves for water electrolysis are looking really good - and hydrogen production from it should be cheaper than steam-methane reforming in a few years.
