Learn to quit things that don’t serve you It’s not shameful It’s not losing It can be the strongest thing you do It’s about valuing your own experience, and choosing you Other people will have opinions and feelings Those are *not* your responsibility #leadershipthoughts

The word “quit” has two origins - “quies” in Latin means “rest, peace, quiet” - “quit” in Middle English means “to set free” What if quitting was about setting yourself free to give yourself peace? Stop suffering through Learn to quit It’s your choice #leadershipthoughts

When in a conversation about quitting, be clear Are you quitting because it’s uncomfortable? OR Are you quitting because it doesn’t serve you? Be clear on your intention Connect to your commitment Look where you’re coming from Choose from somewhere powerful #leadershipthoughts

“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience” Mark Twain Always a good reminder #leadershipthoughts #IFSEvents

That book I’ve been threatening/promising to write for five years? Well 2022 is the year. Today I started the #bizbookchallenge with Alison Jones and I’ll have a kick-ass book proposal by the end of next week. #accountability #action #leadership

WORKING FROM HOME 2020: Smiling on video calls 3 cups of tea a day “Sorry Steve, you’re on mute. We all do it” 2021: Straight-faced on video calls 12 cups of tea “You’re on mute, Steve” 2022: Camera permanently off 25 coffees straight into your veins “IT'S ONE BUTTON, STEVE”

If you want to delegate more, try expanding your definition of “can do”. If “can do” a task only means “can do exactly the way I would, at the same speed and quality” your options will be very limited, maybe zero. Be clear on the tasks where that matters, and where it doesn’t.

If you have expectations, and you don’t communicate them clearly and in good time, you are laying a trap. Just because it seems obvious to you, doesn’t mean it is for anyone else. You are setting up those around you to fail, and you are setting yourself up to be disappointed.

As the only one in my friendship group who's single and without kids, I know what it's like to feel lonely. I live alone and I'm a seasoned lone traveller, solitary cafe go-er + solo diner. Here's 10 things I remind myself to do during those days when I'm feeling isolated. 🧵

"Next year perhaps the BBC could strap a heart rate monitor on the umpires too." writes Tom Ransley in the first of the The Boat Race race reports… Yup. My HR would have been pretty darn interesting at that point 👀 theboatrace.org/news/2023-wome…
