Shamez Ladhani This is flat out incorrect. Vaccines do substantially reduce the risk of infection and transmission, just not 100%. You should delete this tweet.





In 1986 Staeheli et al seminal MX1 paper noted re: IFN/ISGs “it is not known...how many of these proteins are required for protection against a particular virus”. 37 yrs later, Phd student Matt McDougal's new paper shines a light. 1/3 embopress.org/doi/full/10.15…


It was an honour representing the MRC-Uni of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research University of Glasgow at the Elsevier Vaccine 17th Vaccine Congress, here in Glasgow! As a non-vaccinologist I got to learn a great lot about vaccines from all the other speakers! #17VaccineCongress




Just published in Nature Communications! We show that Usutu virus is the only mosquito-borne flavivirus to resist ISG20-mediated inhibition, thanks to a unique domain in its 3'UTR that protects its genome from degradation. A project led by Jim Zoladek at IRIM. rdcu.be/dVMK1
