The second volume of the 4th US National Climate Assessment is now live. It lays out exactly how climate change is affecting every region and most sectors of the US: nca2018.globalchange.gov

I wrote the climate scenarios chapter myself so I can confirm it considers ALL scenarios, from those where we go carbon negative before end of century to those where carbon emissions continue to rise. What WH says is demonstrably false.

This curious larva is a land caddis, Enoicyla pusilla, which I saw this weekend in the Wyre forest. The only UK #caddisfly which is entirely terrestrial! The protective case is contsructed from detritus.

Honored to work with this group of scientists on #microplastic ecology research in fresh waters at #2019SFS! We’re always looking to for ways collaborate and interested to discuss input and ideas - all are welcome and appreciated 🙌🏼

To meteorologists, a bumper crop of dragonflies is just "bug clutter" Nice that something (environmental) is going well this year @RadarAndStuff Sally Entrekin ND-ECI NWS perplexed by radar over VA and NC. A massive cloud of dragonflies may be to blame. tinyurl.com/y6q47usw

Opening day of burrowing mayfly season in the lower Flint River, GA. The #RRMudbug is loaded with emergence traps. The crew anticipates adventure during the field campaign. Spiders are catching subimagos.

Mayfly report from the lower Flint River. Heavy storms appeared to have suppressed emergence. Alligators are flossing with our traps. Dragonflies love to use them for emergence. There is beauty out there, hope you find some. #ACFWaters

The watchers are always about in the lower Flint, but never look directly at you. Emergence traps work, we find mayflies and midges inside and dragonflies outside. Just a beautiful very hot day #ACFWaters

A female wingless #caddisfly (Dolophilodes distinctus) found yesterday! My first time finding this species was for my intro ento course a couple years ago with Steve Marshall (the course Morgan Jackson, PhD is teaching this year!).
