Our babies died because of unsafe NHS care, and now we've come together to call for a statutory national public inquiry on maternity safety. #MaternityInquiry

Congratulations Wes Streeting MP. There's an awful lot of work for you to do and I wish you the very best with it. In particular, maternity care is dangerously broken. Please don't waste any more time - get on with ordering a #MaternityInquiry @safe_maternity now!
Very significant statement from new SoS Health & Social Care Wes Streeting MP this evening: "From today, the policy of this department is that the NHS is broken." Finally, recognition in government of the reality we all face daily. It's a good start! gov.uk/government/spe…
🧵 Sir David Warren NMC Chair being interviewed by Nuala McGovern about nazir afzal’s damning report of Nursing and Midwifery Council “I want to say sorry also to the registrants who are caught up in fitness to practice processes which are far too protracted.” That’s it?! What about the families? 1/
So many heartbreaking experiences coming out of OUH’s John Radcliffe. If you have experienced harm caused by #maternity services in #Oxfordshire please do get in touch with myself or Kim BirthTrauma to join our campaign for a #MaternityInquiry. Donna Ockenden FRSA, Hon DLitt Wes Streeting MP
This ‘apology’ from Yvonne Christley is 🤔 . After a traumatic birth at the #JohnRadcliffe it was recommended I had a Birth Debrief…I called & was told the service wasn’t for me as it sounded like I had a complaint… We need a #MaternityInquiry in Oxfordshire. Wes Streeting MP
Yet again Care Quality Commission blames their lack of action on the three year time limit for prosecutions. But they know the limit exists and deliberately do nothing until it is 'too late'. Baby Orlando and his family deserve so much better.
These comments from Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman are so very welcome. It feels like a real shift in tone - let's all hope that action to match follows swiftly. The focus on the maternity and the recognition that culture is the biggest problem are particularly welcome. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/08/1…
