As an outdoor painter Joan Eardley captured the seasons on the coast at Catterline in all their moods. In the middle of winter look forward to summer with this wonderful painting "Summer Grasses and Barley on the Clifftop" (1962) Edinburgh Museums
For today's Art UK #OnlineArtExchange we have chosen Joan Eardley's (1921-1963) atmospheric 'Catterline in Winter' from National Galleries of Scotland JoanEardleyOfficial. A wonderfully elemental landscape to mark this week's theme of winter! ❄️
Thanks to The Scottish Gallery for this wee film which captures Joan Eardley’s Catterline beautifully. There is a room in the gallery’s new Modern Masters XVI exhibition (opens today) devoted to Catterline. It includes work by Joan, Lil Neilson and James Morrison. Runs until 27 Jan.
We’re delighted to announce the award of £60,000 by MuseumsGalleriesScot for a project to explore North Lanarkshire’s links with slavery and empire. We’re excited to be working with our communities and the University of Glasgow to establish new narratives and ways of working.
I've posted the text of my latest The Sunday Post column on The Scottish Gallery's Modern Masters XVI exhibition on my work Facebook page. LOVE Pat Douthwaite and Joan Eardley so here's a double helping for your delectation.... facebook.com/JanPatienceArt
