We're hearing every child in Y9 sing this week in a short one to one session that also allows us to catch up about their music more widely. This helps to keep our big School Choir inclusive and there are always some who surprise themselves, particularly amongst the boys.

As we settle down into the new academic year, I'm heartened to see an orchestra of 67 at 13-18, working separately as a Concert Band and String Orchestra at present, and a School Choir of 160+. It's great to have such high participation. St Peter's School, York

We had a promising first 6-2-7 concert of the year last night in Chapel. A large and enthusiastic Flute Choir, Flute trio and flute solos, as well as some high quality singing and piano playing. St Peter's School, York

Thanks to all the pupils who played and sang in the 6-2-7 concert this evening. Live performance is so important for their development and it was good to have a supportive audience with us. Our Chapel is such a great space for these events.

Many thanks to the clergy and staff Durham Cathedral for their warm welcome at Evensong today. The Chapel Choir sang very well as they continue their development in each section. It was very encouraging. 👏

Many thanks to all the pupils and staff who played and sang in the Carol Service this afternoon. A good one I thought! Repertoire ranging from Richard Lloyd's fun setting of 'I saw three ships' to Philip Moore's lovely arrangement of 'Away in a manger'. 😀👏

We are looking forward to our Orchestral/Choral Concert York Minster. The Wind Band are enjoying their contemporary piece by Katherine Bergman and our School Choir and Choral Society are working hard on the Mozart, with soloists York Minster Choir. The Orchestra will support U6th Ed.

We are looking forward to the annual Cabaret show next week with solo performances from our U6th, Swing Band, Little Big Band, Chamber Choir, Clarinet Choir, Flute Group and both Boys' and Girls' close harmony groups. Always an atmospheric (and sometimes emotional) evening.
