Only 1 week to go until our big #Careers Fair. 71 organisations have confirmed attendance from education, training and employers. 1000 students in Years 9 to 13 will engage with all these visitors and have the opportunity to think about their future pathways #ceiag

Y12 Business students spent the day at the Newcastle offices of PwC UK. They faced tasks around financial literacy, intoducing them to payslips, income tax & national insurance & embraced the office atmosphere & were keen to understand what a day is like at PwC #nwns #careers

Y10 Southmoor Scholars started with a fantastic lecture by Elaine Effard from Corpus Christi. Elaine shared her story of growing up in South Shields & introduced students to the concept of Subversion & how stories build narrative over time that becomes the expectation #careers

Some Y8 students had the opportunity to visit Thomas Swan & Co.Ltd, a chemical manufacturing company in Consett. They took part in activities such as lab experiments, a plant tour & talk on the uses of graphene & the amazing possibilities it brings to the world of technology #stem

On Wed we welcomed Rachel Bacon, Chief Constable Durham Constabulary who generously gave her time to speak to all Y9 & some Sixth Formers about her career, her role in the Police, the many different #careers opportunities available & give some advice to our students Speakers for Schools

This week we welcomed Suzanne from Seta into school to deliver assemblies to all students in Years 7-11 about the world of #apprenticeships and engineering. Suzanne explained how apprenticeships work and the many organisations in the local area who work with Seta #careers

Our online #careers platform Unifrog was launched last year and features a great range of tools for parents, students & staff to discover future pathways & a huge range of other opportunities. This week, Kathryn delivered a workshop to Y12 about all the possibilities #ceiag

Y10 Southmoor Scholars were treated to a galactic spectacle as Dr. Peter Swift Durham University gave his Astrophysics lecture from within a planetarium in our very own hall. Students were enthralled as Peter shared his passion for understanding our planetary & solar system #careers

This week we welcomed Vicky from Alison Watson MBE and the Design Engineer Construct programme to talk to our Y9 students about their models made as part of their brief to create an inclusive home for the future for everyone & about opportunities in civil engineering #careers
