This week saw a lot of chatter about the future of wood burners in Scotland.
Our Housing Policy Adviser has been providing some much needed clarity around the issue, calling on Scottish Government to work more closely with rural communities when developing policy👇

Pleased to have made my first contribution to Scotland’s leading rural business magazine since joining Scottish Land & Estates.
The Spring edition of Land Business is available online here for free: edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/html5/reader/p…
Fantastic to see Tim Eagle MSP delivering his speech on today's Ag Bill debate from his lambing shed in Moray.
Politicians are often accused of lacking the real world experience on many of the issues they are legislating on - far from the case today!
Great to hear lots of the points from our briefing being raised by MSPs in the Stage 1 debate for the Agriculture & Rural Communities (Scotland) Bill.
Always slightly frustrating to not get a name check for Scottish Land & Estates 😂
🐑Despite tough new legislation aimed at tackling livestock attacks, numbers are still on the up.
SLE has partnered with Scottish Partnership Against Rural Crime on their ‘Your Dog – Your Responsibility’ campaign to support land managers in reducing the risk of livestock attacks or worrying.
Phenomenal effort from colleagues at SLE - particularly Ross Ewing - in helping to shape the Wildlife Management and Muirburn Bill.
The Bill remains a potentially harmful piece of legislation, but thanks to cross-party amendments supported by SLE, it is just about workable.
After 3 years of Scottish Greens in Government, Climate Change Committee’s recent report shows that Scottish Government is Green by name, but not by nature.
The ScotGov’s political eco chamber is letting down rural Scotland. They must not now be made to carry the can for the Green Coalition’s failures.
Grateful to the MSPs which brought forward sensible amendments to the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill today, including Jim Fairlie MSP SNP, Emma Harper MSP, Alasdair Allan, Rachael Hamilton MSP Scottish Borders, Edward Mountain & Rhoda Grant. Thank you all for your efforts to make the Bill more workable.
Today we’re in Scottish Parliament for stage 3 of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill. We’re pleased that MSPs have agreed an amendment by Rachael Hamilton MSP Scottish Borders which will ensure NatureScot have to provide reasons for refusing, modifying, suspending or revoking licences for wildlife traps.
Always great to spend some time in Westminster - useful cross party discussions on Scottish Land & Estates priorities in this year’s general election.
📣 SLE is delighted to announce that the Leader of the Scottish Labour Party Anas Sarwar will be delivering a keynote speech at our Annual Conference in May.

Very good to hear PM UK Prime Minister speaking at NFU National Farmers' Union conference today. His commitment to boost UK food security and deliver annual reporting and industry summits is welcomed. Crucial that this truly reflects all of the UK and happens regardless of party in power
