The first of SERCReliability’s 2025 System Operator Conferences kicked off today in Greenville, SC. Facilitators arrived early for instruction on the operator training simulator. They will lead system operators through scenarios designed to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Matt Parker, Director of Electric Transmission System Operations at Dominion Energy Virginia, shared valuable insights at SERCReliability’s SOC in Greenville, SC. He highlighted the crucial role of System Operators in maintaining reliability & security on an ever-changing grid.

Emmett Handy, Alabama Power & Tayce Lassiter, Georgia Power, led operators through an exercise on the benefits & challenges of generation sources at SERCReliability’s SOC. Each fuel has its own strengths and weaknesses, together they complement one another to maintain

SERCReliability's System Operator Conferences use training simulators to tackle real-world grid challenges, including severe weather and cybersecurity threats. Veteran facilitators help operators sharpen skills for real-time reliability. #GridReliability #LeadWithPurpose

Ryan Guest broke down cyber & physical security threats to the Bulk Electric System + shared how operators can strengthen defenses at SERCReliability’s SOC today. He spotlighted GridEx VIII, a major simulation that tests how well we respond to large-scale attacks on the grid.

Operators from across the region grow their network, share insights & spark ideas that power a more reliable grid at SERCReliability’s System Operator Conferences. Build your future + make connections that matter at a future SOC event! Learn more at sercuniversity.org
