Studies show that PhD students are six to seven times more likely to develop depression and anxiety than the general population (Evans et al., 2018). On World Mental Health Day, I gave a talk at Vienna BioCenter on mental health issues in academia and what to do about them. 1/n

Deeply excited to explore the role of caste in educational aspirations. Inspiring work by Eklavya India Foundation for equitable justice in educational opportunity. Caste is explicit in India but often hidden in class barriers & other social structures in other contexts. Much to learn.
