It is with great sadness that we confirm the sudden and unexpected death of two of our students following a major incident in #Nottingham city centre overnight. We are shocked and devastated by the news and our thoughts are with those affected, their families and friends. (1/2)

We’re supporting a team of researchers, including Dr Pattie Gonsalves, to study the effects of problem-solving and behavioural activation as early interventions for young people with depression 👇 | Sangath Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience

To pay for public sector pay deals (nothing for universities) the gvt has announced it will: 1. Increase the NHS surcharge. For students it will rise from £470 a year to £776 a year.  Work and visit visa costs will rise by 20%. Study visa costs will rise by "at least" 20%.

Studies show that PhD students are six to seven times more likely to develop depression and anxiety than the general population (Evans et al., 2018). On World Mental Health Day, I gave a talk at Vienna BioCenter on mental health issues in academia and what to do about them. 1/n

Deeply excited to explore the role of caste in educational aspirations. Inspiring work by Eklavya India Foundation for equitable justice in educational opportunity. Caste is explicit in India but often hidden in class barriers & other social structures in other contexts. Much to learn.
