Fern, Belle's daughter from last year, made a brief appearance today. Thankfully, she didn't appear to be limping. 🀞🀞

This young Tawny may have gone overboard too early πŸ¦‰πŸ¦‰
We're pretty sure it's okay, a check a short time later, and it was nowhere to be seen.

Looking swell!! Expectant mother Belle late yesterday evening. She gave birth on the 14th of May last year, so hopefully, she won't have long to wait.

A case of mistaken identity!!! Yesterday, I posted a clip of a young buck that I said was Bramble. A closer inspection reveals that it this was not Bramble but a new buck to the patch. Kirk may have to keep on his toes.

While Fern struggles with her injured leg, her brother Bramble is looking great. He's turning into a fine young beast. 🦌🦌

This morning, young Fern seems to be having a problem with her front left leg. She was fine yesterday, so hopefully, it's nothing serious. #

Barking Bramble! I had a pleasant 5 minutes with yearling Bramble this morning. We stood watching each other about 25 metres apart. He eventually trotted off, giving a deep 'manly' bark as he disappeared. This was the first time I'd heard him bark.

This evening, there was an interesting article on about ticks. This picture of Belle in June last year gives you some idea just how many ticks deer can host. Antibodies prevent deer from suffering diseases that we might contract.

Bramble has been keeping his distance from his father. Kirk has been gently persuading his offspring that it's time to keep off his patch and find his own. #

Oh, deer!! On 09/04/2024, I posted a nighttime clip of a limping doe, which I presumed was Belle, who I later reported had recovered. It appears that it wasn't her, but another doe who passed this camera earlier today and is clearly struggling.

As this young doe demonstrates, Roe deer don't look there best at this time of year. Their moult can be quite dramatic. It also makes identifying individuals more difficult.
