Thoroughly recommend Helion & Company Ltd C.E. White's Scharnhorst-the Formative Years 1755-1801. Lots of good stuff therein incl. Wallmoden's comment to the Duke of York that, during the retreat of 1795, British officers cared more for their horses than they did for their men.🎲🎲

I am editing a book on French infantry in the Seven Years War. The French author is describing a drum & uses 'Batter head' for the side that was struck, & 'snare head' for the bottom. Just wondering if anyone knew if they were the correct English terms? Eamonn O'Keeffe maybe?

Picked this up at local auction for £35! Needs some TLC and I really wanted an infantry sword rather than light cavalry but couldn’t say no at that price.

Having worked with the photography departments of some of London’s major museums I always had a little sympathy with them charging for images. But Royal Museums Greenwich asking for £110 for one image is ridiculous. Dr. Bendor Grosvenor 🇺🇦 they denied the court ruling on copyright applied to them.

A couple of the pups trying to gauge their floofyness using the bars of the pen. Looks like at least 1 cm to me.
