And why is it engineers of all people who get to destroy, sorry, re-imagine Cork? Unbelievable BS, to be honest. All these solo runs, no overall plan or context. Induces despair. #CorkCity #lovethelee #badplanning #DerelictIreland

As asked earlier, why do engineers (good people I am sure) get to destroy, sorry, re-imagine Cork? Basically a solo run with no regard for context, overall plan etc. And 're-imagine'? Give me a break. If there was even 'imagination' it wouldn't be so bad.#Cork #derelictireland

Revolting prospect for Cork - aesthetically, architecturally, culturally . . . Unbelievable lack of imagination. Cheap, ugly, horrible. Some legacy!

So the 'relief road' for polluting motor vehicles which is due to be built across a public park & The Marina is cancelled I take it?

Exactly. A disgrace, to be honest. Seems that City Council, planners, B Pleanála, the monied vested interests etc are all on separate and contradictory tracks. The biggest losers are the citizens. A terrible legacy to be leaving.

Double decker bus rounding the corner, left. Building of what's now Natural Foods Bakery, centre, not complete. My guess is 1940s, probably post 1945.
