Local History memorial. I must have walked past this plaque often – just noticed it today. A nice surprise in the built environment – for a change!! And well done Community Council.

Another issue is that universities rarely provide appropriate learning environments for mature students. This is what adult ed departments did but so many have been shut down. timeshighereducation.com/news/lifelong-…

Long, windy walk in the Cleveland Hills. 8.5 miles, 1750 feet of ascent and 4.5 hours walking. We climbed each of the hills in last pic. Includes views of Stokesley and on to Middlesbrough and beyond! Would describe the walk as ‘invigorating’! Quite a contrast to yesterday!

Nice to see the pavement parking ban being observed this morning - not. Nice to see the double yellow lines being observed - not. A typical morning in Cockburn Street.

At last night's Cockburn council meeting, Rose Street's damaged paving illustrated our concerns about poor maintenance standards in the public realm. Tarmac 'temporary' patches + shocking damage to the granite setts laid only a few years ago seems the norm. We must do better!

A great article from the BBC website about the St Giles Cathedral dig in 1981 and the recent work commissioned by John Lawson, the City's archaeologist. #blackdeath #plagueinedinburgh #stgiles #archaeology #dig bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
