Totally agree Rick Prior - I’d add that any mechanism which decides our pay must also give us negotiating rights within it
We have no ability to withdraw our labour, therefore it is the minimum, extremely reasonable expectation.

Creating a law of ‘assaulting a shop worker’ will do as much good as ‘assaulting an emergency worker’ has.

It still happens.
The problem is the justice system, not the offence.
If prolific shoplifters are repeatedly handed suspended sentences, nothing changes.

Not uncommon at all.

Yet; as a society we fail to lock up repeat offenders.
We support stop & search only when it suits & appears politically acceptable, then apologise for it.
We won’t even give all our officers !
& wonder why good police leave.

Mum who blinded police officer with weedkiller curfew amended for dogs walks as it did her good, too!
oh... and bless her, she didn't get jail because 'she struggled with authority figures'. Doesn't it make you warm inside. 🙄

Bring back single quarters accommodation, subsidised canteens, & a pay regime that incentivises LONG service.

They dismantled a tried & tested structure & then wonder why we have “5 year degree on the CV” bobbies?!

Vocational, omnicompetent policing is THE gold standard.

Just now many officers are fearful of using their powers of search. Their leaders must support & trust them. Officers themselves have a role to use powers and in some cases point out errors they see being made by colleagues. Preventing violence requires action not just words

Too much paper work in policing? Nottinghamshire Police have added more by getting all vehicle stops/PNC checks to be recorded in the same detail as a full stop search and say whether they already knew the ethnicity!

The result? Fewer checks / less detection of crime.
Any other Force?
