Phase 2 of the 2024 Shark Bay Dolphin Research field season is underway with a new base set up on the remote Dirk Harthog Island. With brilliant weather, we have thoroughly explored this new + stunning field site. Meeting new dolphins, tiger sharks, dugongs + turtles, is a very happy team!

So unbelievably happy to be back in Shark Bay with the brilliant Shark Bay Dolphin Research team to collect data for my PhD at University of Bristol Biological Sciences! I'll be spending the next 3.5 months with these amazing animals, follow along for updates from the field!
Field work is always great but it is even greater with good company! Looking back on a wonderful two weeks of the BIO341 field course UZH Science where students learned how to conduct boat-based research and got to experience what field work with Shark Bay Dolphin Research

And we are off! Our 2023 field season has begun with Dr Simon J Allen Brendan Lumley and Héloïse + Céline from Magnus Wahlberg lab kicking things off with research on dolphin biosonar. We have lots going on this year so stay tuned for field updates!
