The Reluctant Foodie
@ReluctantF00die
Love Hubbie, Good Food, Nice Travels and the odd drop of Wine - in that order. Others reckon I am, I disagree, plus I'm not fond of the term anyways - A Foodie!

Haven't spent a weekend in Sligo for at least 6 weeks (no harm in that)
Therefore no weekend cuppa & biscuit in bed
...until this morning
And because we were in Enniskillen yesterday they're nice Border Biscuits
ones 😊
I climbed the stairs to 101 Talbot for the first time 34years ago, including the day I waited on my Engagement Ring to be sized (1st time 'round)
Alway my last stop heading to Busáras before I could drive
And then life changed, I forgot how good it was
And now it's gone.. 😔
The sky outside my window right now - post the actual sunset
Had to mute #MasterchefUk on the TV to go out and savour the moment😍
They're cooking on fire, the sky over the Atlantic is on fire too!
My Mother was the Queen of curly parsley

has now been bestowed with the title of King
Parsley Soup
Read that again
Parsley Soup...
with the most delicate smoked Halibut
A nostalgic taste of love for me
We need to give Parsley more credit & love
I may be a little tipsy (blaming Maire McHugh🍷)
However, I've just eaten something that I'd expect a delicious cloud would taste like
Goats cheese with celery leaf, artichoke & olive
Summer has arrived in Skerries in the most delicious way 🌞

Remember this post re CustomshouseBaltimore Ahmet Dede last week?
Yesterday, a little affirmation as to why there's a step up to The MICHELIN Guide ⭐️⭐️ level restaurants
Again, the sum of all parts equalled perfection ⭐️⭐️

That soufflé 🥰
No breakfast
Starving
And then I wasn't
The birthday treats and eats continued today
Chapter One by Mickael Viljanen
I've waited almost 10 years for a Soufflé to surpass my last memorable one
Todays's did just that, as did the exquisite lunch menu & faultless service
The MICHELIN Guide
As a child, Charles Mitchell was the constant - delivering good & bad news in an inimitable fashion on RTÉ News RTÉ Radio 1
As an adult Bryan Dobson has been that constant
So much history, so much news - good, bad, happy & sorrowful
Wishing you a happy retirement Bryan
With the birthday looming, felt really old choosing from the menu Bridgefoot House Sligo tonight
Silly me🙄
Should've known Alan Barrins Mackerel Pate and Prawn Cocktail wouldn't be anything remotely like the retro dishes from yester year
That Pickled rhubarb & apple jelly😍
...and just like that the sunset skies are back🥰
No filters, no embellishments, just Mother Nature at her best

Not a tradition I was used to until I moved to the North West
Last night my lovely neighbour placed yellow flowers on window sills and thresholds to bring us luck and protect us from the fairies 🧚♀️🧚♂️ ❤️

Another reason to ❤️ P O T A G E R and another reason to plot and plan to get home on a Wednesday/Thursday....
Last Saturday night:
The plan was to visit Saint Francis Provisions, have some nice wine and a few nibbles
However, the best laid plans of mice and men....

'Our' birthday cake travelled well 😋
Car unpacked, cake cut and kettle on
Thank you once again Meeran manzoor for making the weekend so special in so many ways ❤️
The cake & cuppa - a perfect ending to a perfect weekend
