🚨"The holiday season is supposed to be the 'most wonderful time of the year' but not for #NJ's economy, which this report indicates is worsening each month," said Regina Egea on November's labor report. Read more here. gardenstateinitiative.org/reports/nov23j…

"Apparently, the one thing not on the table, though, is spending discipline." #NJ taxpayers are going to be left with NJ TRANSIT's $1 billion shortfall. Read GSI President Regina Egea's op-ed about our early warnings and real solutions. #NJCantAffordIt northjersey.com/story/opinion/…

Congratulations to all of the #NJBreweries and thanks Governor Phil Murphy for signing the #NJBeerBill into law. Great work by Brewers Guild of New Jersey Vin Gopal & others for making this happen. @SJBeerscene NewJerseyCraftBeer nj.gov/governor/news/…

Another #NJ firm growing by investing out of state. But, with NC's corporate tax rate at 2.5% & NJ's at 9% (down from 11.5% in 2023) - can you blame them? Our state needs tax reform that makes #NJ competitive again. roi-nj.com/2024/01/17/ind…

Colleen gets to the heart of the matter! And annual "pre-approved" rate hikes are meant to evade public accountability by an agency's leadership...and can be politicized as at NJTurnpike....

Only when we are convinced that every dollar of state’s $54b is being better utilized than investing in Transit , then ask more from Commuters or business.

"In a move that will surprise virtually no one in the Garden State, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority has unanimously approved its 2024 budget — included a 3% toll hike."

Even with that, Pension % funded level remains ~50%. More relevant number is how many more years of $7B annual investments are needed to even approach 80+% funding? JohnReitmeyer Steve Sweeney njspotlightnews.org/2024/02/gov-ph…

The economic data released this week is very positive. As an economist, this is good. However, inflation is up 19% since 2020! No amount of jobs added will make everyday people rejoice. Have you heard anyone leave the grocery store lately & not complain how much it cost?

This report shows that the Gov, thru Treasury, did not take the opportunity to save money that would have made the next inevitable gas tax increase unnecessary. Instead of saving $500 million to head off tax increases, NJ saved only a third of that. Great reporting Ry Rivard

‘New Jersey faces budgetary uncertainty not because it taxes insufficiently, but because spending has grown significantly.’ — Garden State Initiative. Appreciate JohnReitmeyer including GSI in his piece as we look ahead to Governor Phil Murphy’s Budget Address. njspotlightnews.org/2024/02/gov-ph…

Our friends New Jersey Policy Perspective continue to ignore the facts re: corporate tax policy. FACT: # of Fortune 500 Co's HQ'd in #NJ fell by 32% from '06-21. FACT: Outmigration cost NJ $350-$400B in personal income since '90. FACT: NJ lost population & income to 47 of 49 states from '05-'20

While so many are on vaca "....That structural gap...is now more than $2 billion...Murphy and lawmakers are planning to spend down budget surplus, all to prevent state government from running up a deficit, which is generally prohibited by language in the state Constitution."
