We have seen this happen. There is no excuse for treating people like this. Those seeking asylum need to be provided with safety and security. Instead they are being put in even more precarious positions.

Receiving a decision on an asylum claim should be a moment of celebration. Yet the dysfunctional and discriminatory move-on process is driving homelessness. Newly recognised refugees need to be given a minimum of 56 days to move on and financial support to cover tenancy deposits.

Glad we could contribute to this: so many of our guests come to us after eviction from Home Office accommodation when they get refugee status. It should be a time of celebration but it’s one of destitution & anxiety.

It isn't hard to reduce number of people stuck in Home Office run hotels when the Home Office is making so many homeless. This government deliberately left people waiting for their claims. They caused this, and now they are forcing people onto the streets.

Of course the only reason hotels were ever needed was because the Home Office let the backlog of decisions build up and up.

And the same thing is going to happen again with the Illegal Migration Act that shuts down the asylum system making it impossible to process claims.

In the last two years, there has been a staggering 239% increase in newly-granted refugees presenting to local authorities as homeless.

The Home Office would have you believe they're closing hotels, when really they're just shoving more people into rooms

4 men from the #BibbyStockholm gave their skills and time to The Portland Museum. A carpenter fixed the roof on the garden seat and stabilised it. Others did general musrum cleaning, inc the windows, in preparation for the museum's spring/summer opening.

Refugees at Home🧡 Gary Lineker So far, I've experienced Somali, Eritrean and Ethiopian meals, usually done as joint ventures. (Though watch the spices.)
Belarusian cooking may well be next on the agenda. Great fun.
